A lot can change in just a few years. 11 years ago, I started a WordPress blog called Circle G Designs. 6 years ago, I started using its name as an umbrella for my freelance work in Pittsburgh, PA. This year, I established Circle G Designs as an LLC back in Virginia. If you go way back in the archives of my blog, you’ll find sweet little posts about making handmade candles and learning to cook as a newlywed. Fast forward to now, I’m a mom of twin preschoolers with a new business and a bustling schedule where I can’t imagine ever having the time to make homemade candles again in my life.

I’ve gone from living in an apartment, then temporary housing, purchasing/renovating a midcentury split level house in the Pittsburgh, PA suburbs to where I currently am in a very traditional, builder basic home from the late 70s in the suburbs of Richmond, VA. As someone with a background in architecture, my design intention is always to honor the style of the overall structure. 11 years ago, straight out of Architecture school, I would have considered my style to be very modern and had a hard time wrapping my head around why anyone would ever choose anything other than that. As I’ve grown and evolved, so has my design eye. I’ve taught myself to appreciate diversity in design. In my current home, you’ll find me mixing modern and traditional elements to suit the traditional details original to the home – incorporating meaningful family heirlooms and attempting to organize a butt-ton of kid stuff in a livable way. In my business, it is my greatest joy to get to know my clients so intimately that I can create spaces that feel like “you” and help discern organization systems that suit your specific needs.

Since officially establishing my business in the spring, it’s been a crazy busy season trying to work out childcare and taking on some trial projects with friends. I look forward to ramping up and getting my business in gear in the coming months. To see more of my work, follow me on Instagram.
